Vancouver Mansion Listed at $11.38 M, Re-listed at $16.8 M

When a property sits on the market for a period of time it’s not unusual to drop the price, however not every agent follows that pattern.   This 11,081 square foot home is situated on a large 0.83 acre lot on Carnarvon Street in Vancouver, BC.  The property came on the market on June 25, 2013 with a list price of $11,380,000, it didn’t sell and was just re-listed on January 24, 2014 at an inflated $16,800,000.  How could a property gain $5,420,000 in value in less than a year?

The new listing says, “Recently renovated with new kitchen & appliances, hardwood floors, window coverings, interior paint, home theatre with smart system & audio system, roof, landscaping, & fountain.” It is possible that they pulled it off the market to do a number of renovations and re-listed it at a greater price to reflect the work done.  There’s only one problem.  The listing photos on the new ad are the exact same ones from when it was listed at just $11,380,000.  The ad showing the property listed at $11,380,000 is still live on the agent’s website here.  The current listing showing the home priced at $16,800,000 can be seen here with no pictures – and here with pictures.
